This beginning jewelry series will build upon basic metalsmithing and jewelry making skills; focusing on techniques that do not involve a torch and several that require a torch for annealing metal. It is a perfect add-on class for students who have taken Beginning Jewelry I. This class series focuses on a variety of technical skills and how to apply those skills to both jewelry and sculpture. Students will leave each class with a series of finished samples as well as a deeper understanding of basic jewelry practices. Students can purchase the full series or individual classes. The full class series includes: 1. Ear Wires, Clasps, Jump Rings & Chains, 2.Texture & Patina, 3. Forging, Forming & Drawing Down Wire & 4. Rivets.
Instructor: Leah Meleski. Prerequisites: Open to adults, 18 years or older, wanting to learn new skills. Students have taken a Beginning Jewelry Metalsmithing Class or equivalent and are familiar with the jewelry studio. Course fee: $220.00 plus $5-15 per class based upon materials purchased from instructor. 4 Wednesday evenings: 5:30pm-8:30pm.
