The Bellingham Roller Betties (BRB) start Season 12 with a pre-season Double Header on Saturday, January 19 at 5:30 PM at Lynden Skateway (421 Judson St., Lynden, WA 98264).
Led by their fearless coaches Pokeyto Mustachio and Sir Cumference, the BRB All-Stars will battle it out against the Eves of Destruction from Victoria, British Columbia. The BRB All Star team is made up of the most experienced skaters in the league. Skaters try out for a spot on the all star roster several times a year and represent the Bellingham Roller Betties in national and international games and tournaments throughout the year. This will be their first home city bout of the year, after competing in the Bavarian Bruisefest tournament in Leavenworth the week prior.
Last season, the Bellingham Roller Betties All Star team rose twelve spots in the international rankings between November 2017 and 2018. The coaches are confident as the team continues to build on its experience, they will have another successful season in 2019.
Immediately following the All Stars bout with be the annual Red Riot vs. Black Death roller derby bout featuring the Bellingham Roller Betties freshmeat skaters such as Mrs. LoveHits, Slambchop, Shammunition, Nina Nightmare and DocUrSoxOff. Skaters in this bout completed booty camp last fall and have been training hard to prepare for their first public game. The rosters will be completed with some of the BRB’s veteran skaters, and the teams will be coached by Classless Chaps and Crumpet Crusher, who have been training the new skaters since booty camp.
The Bellingham Roller Betties have a Merchandise Booth and Beer & Wine Garden along with the Lynden Skateway’s regular concessions. Most extras are cash only, so come prepared. There are both 21+ and Family Seating options in the stands.
Doors open at 4:45 PM and the first bout starts at 5:00 PM. Advance tickets are available online at www.bellinghamrollerbetties.com/tickets. There will also be tickets available at the door. Seating is limited. Tickets for this event are $10 for adults, $6 for kids ages 8-12 and free for kids 7 and under.
