The class consists of a variety of techniques that can be used in the studio to create unique textures on the surface of metal. Basic studio tools are all that are necessary to create a multitude of textures to enhance and accent your designs. Metal texturing adds depth and uniqueness to the designer’s palate. The class will cover a variety of texturing methods available to the studio artist. Texturing with hammers and custom made punches, as well as texturing using the foredom. Various texturing tools in the catalog of foredom accessories as well as different hand pieces for the foredom will be explored. Finally the use of the rolling mill and various texturing elements will be demonstrated and discussed. The class will be a survey of these various techniques which the student will then be able to apply to their own metal samples to take with them for later creation of uniquely textured designs. The class will be two days of 4 hours each.
