“I love the harmonies of the Shook Twins, the dreamlike songs that seem somehow permeated by the American Folk tradition, without actually being part of it. They make music that twines through your soul the way vines cover an abandoned shack in the woods.”
– Neil Gaiman, New York Times – Best-Selling Author
Identical twins Katelyn Shook and Laurie Shook bring a unique style to the world of American folk. Their eclectic blend of folk, roots, pop, and fun incorporates twin harmonies with acoustic instrumentation including banjo, guitar, upright bass, mandolin, ukelele, glockenspiel, djembe, and their signature golden egg. The use of electronics set their sound apart, with Laurie’s beatboxing and inventive use of a looping machine, and Katelyn’s repurposed telephone microphone.
The Portland-based twins’ music has garnered acclaim from USA Today and more. They have shared the stage with musicians from Ryan Adams to The Indigo Girls and graced such stages as High Sierra, Bumbershoot, Oregon County Fair, Fayetteville Roots Festival, Northwest String Summit and many more, in addition to performing at Red Rocks alongside Gregory Alan Isakov and Ani DiFranco.
